Title: Maybe Wrong
Team: Schreient
Word Count: 100
Characters/Pairings: Masafumi/Hirofumi
Rating: PG-13
Series: Kapitel
Incest and homosexuality. In most cultures, both were frowned upon, the former usually more than the latter. Still, Masafumi really did not care. He was already marked by the Devil, so what harm would a few more sins do?
Hell possibly suspected something, and although she never said anything, she seemed concerned for both Masafumi and Hirofumi.
Masafumi held his brother tighter. He often wondered what their father would have thought of their relationship. Reiji would probably disown them.
This was worth the risk, both Hirofumi and Masafumi believed. They just had to take care not to ever get caught.

Title: Checkmate
Challenge: Not Dead
Team: Schwarz
Word Count: 3 @ 100
Characters: Berger and Kiko (Geisel) from Glühen
1 – Capture
“Okay, punk,” Schuldig rasped, his throat scorched by the heat, “put this out or I snap your neck.”
The pyrokinetic struggled, but the arm tightened around his neck.
::I’m not bluffing, asshole!::
::Okay, okay! I don’t wanna die!:: With a flicker of intent, the flames began to recede.
::That’s better,:: Schuldig said, not relaxing his hold. He sensed the guy’s nickname as a mental signature to his plea. ::Kiko, huh? How many on your team?::
“Two others,” the firestarter gasped, barely able to breathe.
Schuldig paused, concentrated, then said, “Make that one other. Come on, move it. You’re mine now.”
2 – Outmaneuver
::Brad, where are you?::
::I’m a little busy here!::
::Get me a link.:: Schuldig focused on his leader’s mind. Slowly Crawford’s mindscape became clear, revealing Brad’s opponent. Illusionist, eh?
Berger noticed the new arrival and braced for combat.
Before either he or Schuldig could engage, Crawford addressed him directly. ::You won’t win. You will only die if you continue. I have Seen this, long before today. Surrender, and you will both be spared.::
::How? Esset will destroy us if we fail,:: Berger stated, wanting to hope but not yet daring to.
Inscrutable and final, Crawford said, ::Leave that to me.::
3 – New Game
Monitors and surveillance equipment lined the walls, filling the space with a vague blue glow and a steady low hum.
“Hey, Berger? What are they going to do to us?”
The illusionist regarded his one remaining teammate, his last living friend. “I don’t know, Kiko.”
Three men entered the van and secured the door.
The tallest one positioned himself behind the steering wheel, while the other two took up posts at the monitors.
The youthful-looking fellow smelling vaguely of plastique smiled shyly.
The slender man in glasses bowed to Berger, then to Kiko. “Welcome to Kritiker, Green Bishop, Blue Pawn.”

“You were never told what really happened to your parents! Or did you ever see their bodies?” Takatori’s voice is a low steady rumble despite him facing an angry man with a katana about to avenge his family’s death.
“You killed them, that’s all I need to know!” Aya spits back.
“Maybe. From a certain point of view!” Takatori retorts, chuckling.
Enraged, Aya screams as he steps closer, only to stop dead in his tracks when Takatori lifts his hand, looking as if he is tearing the flesh off his face.
“Ran!” The other man says, approaching as the katana clatters onto the floor.
“Tōsan!”

“It’s not fair, that’s all,” Neu complained. “I got the most grisly death of all!”
“Shut up,” Ouka replied, leaning back in her chair. “I got shot in the back by that Irishman.”
“She’s got a point,” Schoen agreed, sipping her martini. “At least I got shot by that cute American.”
“Agreed,” Hel put in.
“I only got one episode!” Maki argued. “One measly episode with…Yohji…” She purred.
Neu’s eyes narrowed. “He only loved you because of me, wench!”
“Bite me, Asuka!”
“Excuse me,” the bartender interrupted. “But aren’t you all dead?”
The ladies glanced at one another.
“We…got better.”

Elsewhere in the Wunder Bar, several men were chatting.
“You suck, Dad,” Hirofumi growled, lining up his shot.
Masafumi lingered nearby, holding his pool cue. “We told you to pay for Mamoru’s ransom. Did you listen? Noooo.”
“Hey, I’m not the one who took up a vendetta against the family,” Reiji protested.
“Yeah, Uncle Shuichi sucks too,” Masafumi amended.
“He stole my woman,” Shuichi sulked. “And my son. And shot me.”
Hirofumi winced. “Wow, Dad. You really suck.”
“But he sent Weiss after me!”
The waiter delivered a round of martinis. “Frankly, I'd say you all suck.”
“Oh, shut up!”
Title: Necessary Evils

Kase Kouichiro sat at a table in the far corner, nursing his drink. “So you got killed by Weiss, too?” he asked his companion.
“Yup. Right in the middle of my best song ever.”
“Yeesh.”
Botan came over, drink in hand. “Hey, this seat taken?”
“Nah. What’s your story?” Kase asked, scooting over.
“I died to make the situation seem desperate.”
They whistled. “Jeez. That’s terrible, man.”
“Eh, could be worse,” Botan shrugged. “That trio of geezers there? Backstabbed by their own team.”
Kase frowned. “But…that stab wound is in the front…”
Botan sighed. “No wonder you died so early.”

“A drink, please.”
“Preference? Golf Club Soda with gin? Bugnuk Martini?”
“Water’s fine,” he said, wincing.
The bartender frowned a moment. “Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
“Uh…no. Nope. Sorry.”
The bartender snapped his fingers, smiling. “Sure! You’re that lawyer guy!”
The shout from the corner came instantaneously.
“LAWYER?!”
“That’s the guy who tried to brainwash Mamoru!” Hirofumi shouted, thrusting his cue at the figure.
“Get him!” Masafumi screamed.
As the brothers bore down on him, Kinogawa did the only logical thing.
He ran.

“Lousy kids,” Shuichi slurred, now overly inebriated. “Never respectin’ us…”
“Yeah…” Reiji agreed, intoxicated as well; he’d matched his brother drink for drink.
Shuichi hiccupped. “So I tells my kid, ‘Kritiker’s gonna be all yours someday’ and what’s he say? ‘But Dad, I dun wanna rule…I just wanna sing!’ An’…’e joins a band! Called…‘Vice’, or somethin’…”
“Shoulda never had kids,” Reiji said firmly, taking another long swig.
“Shoulda never got married,” Shuichi agreed, matching him.

“Nonsense. A couple drinks won’t hurt anything.”
The boy paled as his eyes fell on several familiar faces. “But Schu…I see dead people!”
“That movie sucked, and you’re not funny.”
“I’m not kidding! They’re everywhere! All around us!”
Schuldig scowled. “Right. All around. And Reiji Takatori’s singing karaoke with Santa.”
“Actually,” the bartender noted, gesturing, “Mr. Takatori is right behind you, both drunk and armed.”
Schuldig didn’t have time to duck before the golf club impacted.

Reptilian eyes blinked, surprised.
The boy hesitated, then took a seat. “My name’s Jun. Did everybody forget about you? I know the feeling. I’ll sit with you for a while, if you’d like.”
Touched by the gesture, the Elders’ deceased leader smiled.
